History of SLeCAD

SLeCAD was established with the prime objective of promoting agribusiness private sector development, particularly is establishing platforms and facilitating interactions for agribusiness, partnerships, trade, and investment in agriculture in Sierra Leone.

Organization Overview

Our vision is sustainable Agribusiness in S/Leone through enhanced productivity and competitiveness at National, Regional, and Global Markets.

The agribusiness sector has a crucial role in the economy of Sierra Leone, but is facing a lot of challenges, which can be tackled by providing capacity building and training opportunities to local farmers to flourish sustainable agriculture development more rapidly. Keeping this in view, the chamber was established to foster the significance of capacity building/ training for the farming community. Training plays a key role in equipping farmers equipped with skills and competencies for crop production and protection to raise their household income and alleviate food security.

Regional/District Chambers

The Sierra Leone Chamber for Agribusiness Development (SLeCAD) has five branch chambers across the country to ensure that the industrial and commercial needs of its members are addressed. The chambers are located in the respective districts as follows:

  • Bo
  • Kono
  • Kenema
  • Bombali
  • Port Loko

Plans are underway to ensure that at least each region/district has a branch chamber to promote and protect industrial and commercial interests of economic agents.
