Our Competence

The Sierra Leone Chamber for Agribusiness Development provides the forum for interaction and information sharing among members, Agribusiness and Agro-industry sector. The chamber provides current agribusiness investment and trade information to its members and also update them with current opportunities in the agribusiness sector.

Skilled Personnel: Trained 200 livestock farmers in business development and financial management skills. Funded by DFID/RIU.

Value Chain: value chains and financial management skills. Funded by World Bank Rural Private Sector Development Program.

Cassava Farmers: Trained 500 cassava farmers, processors and marketers nationally on business development and financial management skills. Funded by USAID/IITA.

Finance Management: Trained 15ABCs with 1,500FBOs in business development, marketing and financial management skills. Funded by EUFF/FAO.

Livestock: Trained 200 livestock farmers in business development and financial management skills. Funded by DFID/RIU.

High Quality: Trained 300 rice producers, processors and marketers in business plan development, value chains and financial management skills.

Market Development & Activities

Facilitate agribusiness development and value addition. From the chamber’s perspective, the interventions in this area are primarily through promoting private investment in the agriculture sector of Sierra Leone and ensure mutual benefits in information sharing,improving the flow of agricultural research information, ensuring its equitable access and appropriation by all agricultural actors and enabling learning systems to make effective use of it for agricultural innovation.

The agribusiness sector has crucial role in the economy of Sierra Leone but is facing lot of challenges, which can be tackled by providing capacity building and training opportunities to local farmers to flourish sustainable agriculture development more rapidly. Keeping this in view the chamber was established to foster the significance of capacity building/ training for farming community. Training has key role to make the farmers equipped with skills and competencies for crop production and protection to raise their house hold income and alleviate food security.
